EXTRADITION AWAITED IN MURDER CASE.

, 39, is accused in the November shooting deaths in Lancaster of Christine Bacon, his 42-year-old former girlfriend, and Crystal Dawkins, her 18-year-old daughter from Columbia, S.C. The bodies were found in Bacon's home in December.

Brown is in custody in Arizona, where he was sentenced to five years on drug-trafficking charges in a case Pima County prosecutors say involved transporting 200 pounds of marijuana marijuana or marihuana, drug obtained from the flowering tops, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa (see hemp) or C. indica; the latter species can withstand colder climates. .

Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide Detective Bill Marsh said L.A. County prosecutors will seek Brown's extradition next month. Marsh expects the hearing to be mainly a formality formality, in chemistry: see chemical equilibrium; concentration. , he said.

"There would have to a compelling reason not to bring him to trial (in Los Angeles County,)" Marsh said. "We expect to start the proceedings within a short amount of time."

Brown was arrested in Tucson on Jan. 19, about a month after the women's bodies were found.

Brown could face the death penalty in the special-circumstances case.

"I'm eager to get him back here to face these charges, especially because this is a guy who tried to get away from us," Marsh said.
