EXTRA TIME FOR TERROR SUSPECTS.

THE North West Counter Terrorism Unit has been granted extra time to speak to four men arrested as part of a national operation last week.

Officers have been given warrants to continue to question four of the men, aged 26, 23, 26 and 41, for a further five days.

On Wednesday officers were given a further seven days to question seven other men, aged between 22 and 37.

It followed raids in Liverpool, Greater Manchester and Lancashire on April 8 when 12 men were arrested under the Terrorism Act, all but one Pakistani nationals.

An 18-year-old has been released into the custody of the UK Borders Agency.

A further 11 men remain in custody.

Police have searched addresses in Cedar Grove, Toxteth and Highgate Street and Earle Road, Edge Hill..
