EXPERT PANEL TO SPEAK ON U.S., CHINA COMMERCE.

VALENCIA - An internationally renowned team of experts on U.S.-China commerce will participate in Tuesday's Expanding Business with China conference, sponsored by College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. .

Nancy Sidhu, a senior economist with the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Economic Development Corp., will speak on ``China: Opportunities and Challenges.'' Sidhu also is vice president of the private, nonprofit organization Nonprofit Organization

An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well.

``She has hands-on experience and expertise in working with Asian companies and is able to bring real-life applications to Los Angeles companies wanting to understand the possibilities and the hurdles involved in doing business in China,'' said Peter Bellas, director of the Center for Applied Competitive Technologies at the Valencia community college The college was founded in 1967 as Valencia Junior College, taking its current name in 1971. It has several campuses in Orlando with additional campuses in Kissimmee and Winter Park. More than 50,000 students enroll each year. .

Barry Naughton, professor of Chinese Economy and the Sokwanlok Chair of Chinese International Affairs at the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States).  at San Diego, also is slated to speak. Naughton is an internationally recognized authority on the Chinese economy.

Naughton's talk, ``China, Opportunity with Caution'' will offer details on trade between China and U.S. companies. His recent research has focused on regional economic growth in the People's Republic of China and the relationship between foreign trade and investment and regional growth.

Naughton is completing a textbook on the Chinese economy and recently has completed projects focusing on the relationship between the development of the electronics industry in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and the growth of trade and investment among those economies. Lei Qingxi, section chief and vice researcher of the China Technology Market Management and Promotion Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology in Beijing, will travel from China for the conference.

Qingxi will speak on ``Technology: A Bridge to Cooperation.''

Dena Maloney, dean of economic development at College of the Canyons, one of the organizers of the conference, traveled to China in October 2004 to meet with such experts.

Qingxi is the author of ``Chinese Technical Market'' and is considered an expert on conferences and exhibitions in China.
