EX-MCKEON AIDE TO DIRECT OPEN-SPACE EFFORT WILK HOPES TO WIN MINDS ON GREENBELT MEASURE.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  -- A consultant overseeing the city's new open space bond measure vows to avoid mistakes that led to the first measure's defeat.

Scott Wilk hopes to parlay An open programming interface (API) to a service provider's network (the network operator), developed by the Parlay Group (www.parlay.org). By enabling the customer's application to talk directly to the network, it allows the end user to have greater access to network information as well  his smarts for getting candidates elected into saving acreage from the onslaught of tract homes.

Neither the campaign's budget nor Wilk's compensation have been set, but Wilk said consultants are customarily paid 10 percent to 15 percent of the budget. The endeavor is not a political campaign, and will have no oversight

In November 2005, the city's proposed $25-a-year special assessment was soundly defeated. ``No'' votes were largely cast by mobile home park owners, apartment building owners, large landowners and utility companies. Valencia property owners were the most supportive, followed in order by Newhall, Saugus and Canyon Country.

In November the Santa Clarita City Council approved $100,000 to fund consultants and engineering reports for the new effort, which may focus on buying undeveloped land.
