Because of the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of 36-year-old Bradley Kolfschoten -- who was found just after noon Tuesday in a car parked near 16th Street and Newhall Avenue -- sheriff's homicide detectives did not reveal any details of their investigation.

``It appeared that he may have been beaten,'' said Coroner's Office Capt. Ed Winter.

A definitive cause of death had not been determined as of Wednesday afternoon. Kolfschoten died at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
