Wilder said Friday that he knows some of the witnesses listed in the court documents, but he was unaware of the charges or that a warrant had been issued. He said he was living in Canada in 1994 and denies the charges.

Three felony counts were filed in April of 1994 in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Municipal Court alleging that Wilder committed grand theft of personal property in unlawfully taking money and personal property exceeding $400 in 1991, according to court records.

Deputy District Attorney Thomas Wren Thomas Wren was a United States Representative from Nevada.

, who filed the charges, said the money involved fees owed to actors. He said ``nobody has been able to find'' Wilder.

In one count, it is alleged that Wilder sent a check for $942.41 in April of 1991 for services that the victim had rendered. The check bounced because of insufficient funds, according to the allegation.

Wilder, 53, was named head baseball coach at Westlake this season after serving as an assistant last year. He was not a teacher or full-time employee of the district.

Several Westlake parents began to investigate Wilder's coaching background after questions were raised about his coaching philosophies.

On Thursday, assistant principal Joseph Pawlick announced that Wilder had been dismissed, citing inaccurate information supplied by Wilder in his resume. Wilder had listed himself as head baseball coach at Verdugo Hills High in 1992 when he was officially an assistant coach.

Bernie Carr, principal at Westlake Elementary School and the father of Westlake pitcher Tim Carr, was one of the most vocal parents challenging Wilder's coaching background.

``My concern goes to veracity veracity (vras´itē),
n
,'' Carr said. ``I feel the guy doesn't have the ability to tell the truth to kids and parents.''

Wilder said his firing was the result of a group of parents pressuring school administrators after they disagreed with his coaching decisions.
