EVENTS PLANNED FOR KING BIRTHDAY; AWARDS TO SALUTE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

Byline: City News Service

Thirty years after his assassination, Martin Luther King Jr.'s quest for social justice is still a ``dream,'' according to those heading up an annual festival in his honor.

``It is important to celebrate outstanding contributions in the arena of social justice as the new millennium approaches,'' Genethia Hayes, MLK MLK Martin Luther King

``There is still a crying need to look at issues of social justice, as we see huge reversals, losing affirmative action in the state of California, for example,'' she added.

The theme of the 22nd Annual King Week Festival will be ``We Still Have a Dream,'' she said. The festival will begin with a ceremony Jan. 7 in the Bradley Court at the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw Plaza.

Other events will include the Rosa Parks Center Gospel Festival, the Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Prayer Breakfast and a countywide art and essay contest.

The festival will end Jan. 18 with a birthday dinner, honoring eight people who have ``advanced the struggle for social justice.'' DreamWorks SKG SKG Stichting Kwaliteit Gevelbouw (Dutch)
