EVENT SET FOR VETERANS PLAZA GROUNDBREAKING TO BE HELD TODAY.

VALENCIA - The city will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking today, Veterans Day, on a long-awaited memorial to servicemen and servicewomen.

The Veterans Historical Plaza is planned on a triangular parcel near downtown Newhall, on Market and Walnut streets A number of streets are named Walnut Street:
  • Walnut Street (Harrisburg)
  • Walnut Street (Philadelphia)
Walnut Street may also refer to:
  • Walnut Street Bridge
  • Walnut Street (NJT station), in Montclair, New Jersey
. Ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

The plaza will include water features, more than 50 trees, themed lighting, flags from each of the five branches of the military plus the U.S. and California flags, and a brick walkway walkway Rehabilitation medicine An instrument used to measure the timing of foot contact and or position of the foot on the ground .

Veterans have battled for the monument for more than a decade. In 2000, the city bought the half-acre property with $250,000 from the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Affairs is a term of the business that deals with the relation between a government and its veteran communities, usually administered by the designated government agency. . The city also has collected $50,000 in private donations for construction.

The Historical Veterans Memorial Committee is raising additional funds through the sale of inscribed in·scribe

 bricks for public art that will eventually be placed in the plaza, designed with a formal Victorian garden theme.

``It was the goal of the design team to create a place of serenity and reflection in the middle of a bustling city,'' said Rick Gould, the city's director of parks, recreation and community services.
