EVEN BART AND THE BARD PLAYHOUSE TO OFFER SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

PALMDALE - The Palmdale Playhouse's spring shows will feature the return of the comedy improvisation troupe Houseful of Honkeys and an expanded Shakespeare festival including Homer, Marge and Bart Simpson.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Cesar Chavez Day State holiday in California observed on March 31. Cesar Chavez's Birthday. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger suspended observance of the holiday in 2004 and 2005 to save money during the aftermath of the power crises. See also

 celebrations will be part of the season, as will concerts by songwriter Paul Williams Paul Williams is the name of several musicians:
  • Paul Williams (The Temptations) (1939–1973), one of the lead singers of the popular Motown act The Temptations
 and Steve March Torme, the vocalist son of the late Mel Torme.

``We have so many things happening,'' said Dea McAllister, cultural arts-theater manager.

New offerings this season will include a lecture by former Pentagon official Jo Condrill, a festival of one-act plays and a gospel music concert featuring singer Frank Graves and several local groups.

The seventh annual Shakespeare Festival in April will grow to seven days.

In ``MacHomer,'' Rick Miller will provide the voices of Homer, Marge and Bart Simpson and other characters in a version of ``MacBeth.'' Courtyard by Marriott is designed for business travelers.  hotel on Rancho Vista Boulevard will be a prelude to a Mother's Day performance by pianist Robin Spielberg.

The playhouse is taking registration for its youth and community orchestra, choir and dance companies, which will perform shows May 16, 17 and 18.

``That's why the theater is here: an opportunity for the community to involve themselves in all aspects of theater,'' Mayor Jim Ledford said.
