The enhancements were made to increase usability and productivity of the browser-based, client/server GUI front-end application, Advanced Distributed Framework (ADF). The user-friendly nature of the system provides concrete value to businesses.

EUR Systems engaged Human Factors International (HFI), a market leader in expert usability engineering, to provide evaluation, tools, and training on interface standards, and to review the usability features within its existing ADF product. EUR wanted to improve ADF's ease of use while making it more visually appealing for all users.

HFI guided EUR in adding user-centric engineering features into screen layouts, wording, fonts, and color schemes based on human factors design principles. These principles apply knowledge in designing systems that work while accommodating the limits of human performance and exploring the advantages of the human operator in the process.

The new interface features many user-friendly navigation tools, including: hot keys, tab sequencing, channels, and sub-channels. It also provides multiple selection features such as check boxes, drop down boxes and pop-up windows. Other features include: on-line help using Hover Text, hierarchical view of customer data maintained in list boxes, and multiple customer search fields.
