ETS and Topeak Sign Multimillion Dollar Partnership to Offer English Tests in China.

Educational Testing Service The Educational Testing Service (or ETS) is the world's largest private educational testing and measurement organization, operating on an annual budget of approximately $1.1 billion on a proforma basis in 2007.  and Beijing Topeak International Education Investment Co. Ltd. signed a partnership today for the creation and use of a test of practical English throughout China.

Spoken by about 470 million people throughout the world, English is the official language of about 45 nations.  as part of a broad training initiative. This will be the first standardized test A standardized test is a test administered and scored in a standard manner. The tests are designed in such a way that the "questions, conditions for administering, scoring procedures, and interpretations are consistent" [1]  of practical English in China designed especially for Chinese businesses.

The test will include components for listening, speaking, reading and writing. It is being carefully designed to be representative of global measurement standards on the one hand and to be appropriate for the majority of Chinese business professionals on the other. Officials expect to administer it several times a year or on demand.

 will retain the copyright on the test and Topeak will serve as its exclusive distributor for China.

The test will be implemented in two stages: It will be promoted and used in Chinese business circles in the first stage and will be used in economic management academies and training centers in the second stage.
