ETI ships EXTRACT Release 2.4.1; upgrade offers performance enhancements for speedier program generation.AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 1995--Evolutionary Technologies Inc. (ETI (Embed The Internet) An earlier consortium that was devoted to putting Web servers into microcontrollers used in embedded systems. Using a Web server enables access to the device via any Web browser. See Web server and microcontroller. ) Monday begins shipping a new version of EXTRACT Release 2.4.1. This new version of the software provides enhanced customization and control features as well as performance optimizations that have proven able to accelerate program generation by a factor of 70. The new release also offers case-sensitive program generation tools and the availability of a specialized demonstration version of the product. ``Release 2.4.1 of EXTRACT represents dramatic performance improvements, most notably in the speed of conversion program generation, which is a hallmark of the product,'' said Scott Williams, vice president of development of Evolutionary Technologies. ``During a beta test A test of new or revised hardware or software that is performed by users at their facilities under normal operating conditions. Beta testing follows alpha testing. Vendors of packaged software often offer their customers the opportunity of beta testing new releases or versions, and the , one customer experienced a reduction in program generation time for a very large program from several hours to only 10 minutes, for a conversion with source schema that contained approximately 100 record types and 3,000 data elements. These results underscore our commitment to providing our customers with a tool that greatly reduces the cost of change.'' EXTRACT Release 2.4.1 also offers improved process control, with such features as user-specified naming of and locations for conversion files, as well as support for operating in the Korn shell A command line processor for Unix that adds extensions to the Bourne shell. It includes many C shell functions, but is supported by more versions of Unix than C shell. See Bourne shell, bash shell, C shell and Unix. Korn Shell - (ksh) A command interpreter for Unix. . In addition, consultants and integrators who are qualified through ETI's Consultant Certification Program may use a new demonstration version to show the capabilities of the EXTRACT Tool Suite to clients who are seeking solutions to such IS challenges as migrating to client/server architecture An environment in which the application processing is divided between client workstations and servers.
