ESSO COMMITS TO OIL EXPLORATION. Esso's Guyana affiliate has re-emphasized its interest in exploring for oil offshore after initial efforts starting in 1999 were interrupted by the Suriname maritime dispute a year later, reports Stabroek News (Oct. 31, 2008). The Govt and Esso Exploration & Production Guyana Ltd (EEPGL) signed a supplement to the company's existing Petroleum Prospecting License and Petroleum Agreement, to conform to the Guyana/Suriname maritime boundary and rescheduling the period during which the company's work obligations are expected to be undertaken.
