ESSENCE Magazine Honors Allstate for the Third Consecutive Year as a Great Place To Work for African-American Women.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. -- Allstate Insurance Company was named for the third year in a row to the "Great Places to Work" list for African-American women published by ESSENCE magazine.

"We were looking to recognize companies that promoted diversity -- specifically the inclusion of African-Americans, women and African-American women," said Diane Weathers, editor-in-chief of ESSENCE magazine.

ESSENCE randomly surveyed African-American women who work at companies across the country, including employees at Allstate about the work environment to help determine its inclusion on this list. Yolanda Jones, a field claims adjuster for Allstate, was one of the women to complete the survey and is featured in the magazine.

"Allstate makes me feel that it values African-American women and what they bring to the table," said Jones. "Allstate leaders are also flexible and understand that being able to balance my work responsibilities with my personal life helps me to be more productive in the workplace."

African-American women make up 12.2% of Allstate's 38,000-employee workforce.
