ESSBASE 4.0 Garners Broad Support From Leading Software Vendors; 25 Leading Products Integrate With Enhanced Essbase Server.


SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1996--Arbor Software Corporation, a leading provider of client/server software for business planning, analysis and management reporting, today announced that the newly released Essbase 4.0 has garnered support from 17 leading software vendors.

This affirms Arbor's leadership in open, enterprise OLAP (OnLine Analytical Processing) Decision support software that allows the user to quickly analyze information that has been summarized into multidimensional views and hierarchies. OLAP tools are used to perform trend analysis on sales and financial information.  solutions and showcases the unprecedented support for Essbase's robust Application Programming Interface (API). The wide range of complimentary applications and tools solutions also reinforces the continued success of Arbor's Essbase-Ready partnering initiatives.

The 25 software products supporting Essbase 4.0 offer a broad range of functionality, including spreadsheets, application development tools, managed query environments, desktop OLAP products, executive information systems, visualization software, systems management tools and internet browsers. Arbor's customers benefit by having a choice of "best-in-class" products which together deliver far greater capabilities than could be provided by any single vendor.

Essbase 4.0 Platforms and Pricing

Essbase 4.0 will be available in full 32-bit versions for both single-user and server platforms. The server version of Essbase is available immediately running on Microsoft Windows NT and IBM OS/2. Server versions running on Hewlett-Packard HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.
