ESPNdeportes.com Continues Development; Enhances Integration With ESPN Television.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 2001

ESPNdeportes.com, (www.espndeportes.com), the Spanish-language sports site produced by ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network  Internet Group serving the Latin American and U.S. Hispanic communities, has launched new initiatives to enhance its integration with ESPN's U.S. and Latin American television networks, including television listings and an Internet component to ESPN International's Perfiles program, as well as a new rugby section with on-air integration.

ESPNdeportes.com is part of the Walt Disney Internet Group The Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) oversees several websites owned by The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries. [1] The division's Disney Online unit operates disney. .

ESPNdeportes.com now offers complete television listings in Spanish - searchable by day, sport or network - for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic and ESPN Deportes ESPN Deportes is a cable television network dedicated to broadcasting sports-related programming 24 hours a day in the Spanish language. Deportes means "sports" in Spanish. , as well as the Latin American networks ESPN Dos, ESPN America Latina, and ESPN Sur.

As a complement to Perfiles, a half-hour monthly program produced by ESPN International ESPN International is a family of networks around the world. It was begun in 1989 and is operated by ESPN. It consists of:

  • ESPN Israel
  • ESPN Latin America

The Perfiles area on ESPNdeportes.com launched recently with Dominican pitcher Pedro Martinez from the Boston Red Sox The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox are a member and currently champions of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball’s American League. The recently launched rugby section includes in-depth coverage of the URBA URBA Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires (Spanish)  Championship (Union de Rugby de Buenos Aires), including match previews and recaps, complete results and standings of each division, and a weekly feature column from ESPN Sur's Alejandro Coccia. The site will also feature integration with ESPN Latin America's television broadcasts, including regular results on-air for ESPNdeportes.com user polls.
