ESI and MediSend/International Ship Medical Supplies to Sri Lanka; Long-Term Relief Fund Established Early in 2005.


PLANO, Texas Plano (IPA: /ˈpleɪnoʊ/) is a wealthy suburb of Dallas, Texas, located to the north, mainly within Collin County, but also extending into Denton County. The company planned to continue support for the effort with a long-term campaign.

Disaster support has poured from Americans during the extensive damage due to the Indian Ocean Indian Ocean, third largest ocean, c.28,350,000 sq mi (73,427,000 sq km), extending from S Asia to Antarctica and from E Africa to SE Australia; it is c.4,000 mi (6,400 km) wide at the equator. It constitutes about 20% of the world's total ocean area.  tsunami of December 26, 2004. Shortly after the catastrophe, ESI established a direct support link with MediSend/International, a Dallas-based medical relief organization, to provide much-needed supplies such as blood collection sets, IV catheters, examination tables, gloves, IV poles, tracheotomy tubes, and epidural epidural /epi·du·ral/ (-dur´il) situated upon or outside the dura mater.

Blue Wing Express will ship the medical supplies via ocean liner from Houston, Texas to Colombo, Sri Lanka. Delivery is expected in Sri Lanka within two to four weeks. There are two particular hospitals designated to receive these medical supplies. General Hospital Battacaloa handles life-threatening situations and Mahamodara Maternity Hospital, located very close to the sea, has been rebuilt to the "functioning" level and desperately needs these supplies.
