ESCORT CORDLESS TELEPHONES WITH UNPRECEDENTED 1/2 MILE RANGE
 ANNOUNCED BY CINCINNATI MICROWAVE
CINCINNATI, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, consumers can have a cordless telephone with an unprecedented 1/2 mile range, encryption technology for total conversation security, and crystal clear voice quality. These are features of Escort's new 900 MHz Digital Spread Spectrum cordless telephones which were announced today by Cincinnati Microwave, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNMW) at its annual shareholders meeting. A demonstration of a working model will be presented to the press attending the Summer Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago in late May.
"Spread Spectrum technology was originally designed for military communications to provide high security communication and resistance to interference," said Jacques Robinson, president & CEO of Cincinnati Microwave. "It has also been deployed in satellite and industrial date communications. Previous attempts to bring this technology to the consumer market have been too costly and too bulky for personal use. Cincinnati Microwave has overcome these obstacles."
"Our unique application of Spread Spectrum technology with digital transmission for a 900 MHz consumer telephone eliminates the negative aspects of conventional cordless phones and sets a new industry standard for range, clarity and security," Robinson said. "Escort's phones(A), priced under $300, will be introduced in October and will be available directly from Escort."
In addition to a range of up to 1/2 mile and digital sound quality, the Escort cordless telephones provide an extremely secure conversation. Complex encryption technology allows totally private conversations. Other features include: hold, last number redial, 2-way page and intercom, 5-day standby, 100 channel user selection, 100,000 security codes, back-lit keypad and out-of-range alerts that are both audible and visual.
The Escort 900 MHz Digital Spread Spectrum cordless phones will also include a concealed handset antenna, 3-in-1 handset mounting in base (upright, horizontal or wall mount), audible and visual low battery indicators, user-replaceable battery, earpiece volume control, tone and pulse dialing.
Cincinnati Microwave, Inc. was the first to commercialize superheterodyne receives for radar detectors and just introduced the first traffic laser detector. The company has now commercialized high quality, high security, long range, digital Spread Spectrum technology in an affordable cordless telephone. As with all Cincinnati Microwave products, the 900 MHz cordless telephones will be assembled at the company's factory in Southwestern Ohio.
 (A) Pending FCC approval.
