ESCO(R) Corporation Manages Traffic Prioritization with Kentrox(R) QoS Solutions.

Protecting and prioritizing critical business applications cost-effectively

Corporation, a group of companies that manufactures engineered metal parts and components for industrial machinery, has eliminated bandwidth management Controlling the traffic flow in a network. See bandwidth manager.  issues using the Kentrox Q1300 QoS Appliance. The Q1300 has helped ESCO protect critical applications, monitor and prioritize traffic, provide Quality of Service (QoS), and manage WAN bandwidth.

As ESCO's Internet usage has expanded among its 3,600 employees worldwide, the company experienced bandwidth issues that affected performance for multiple Internet-based applications, such as Voice over IP and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). This time-sensitive traffic was competing with less critical traffic for the limited resources available on the Wide Area Network.

ESCO added the Q1300 QoS Appliance to the network at the critical VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks.  sites. This allowed them to enforce bandwidth policing and provide QoS for VoIP and other latency-sensitive applications. The Q1300 uses industry standard Differentiated Services Offerings that can be classified by type, or quality, of service. For example, a differentiated services network could prioritize real time traffic for a higher fee.  (DiffServ) for implementing the QoS. ESCO is able to reserve a user-defined amount of bandwidth to ensure the critical applications get the priority required.

"The implementation of the Q1300 in our network was quick and easy," stated John Warren John Warren may refer to:

We already had routers in place, and fortunately, we did not need to remove or replace any equipment. We simply added it behind our existing equipment making the addition of QoS painless. The price point of the product is ideal for the policing and QoS our company requires. I'm extremely pleased with the appliance because our mission-critical applications do not suffer due to unavailable network resources. I haven't received one call regarding application performance since I've installed it. It is a quick way to provide peace of mind."

The Q1300 also provides real-time and historical graphical reports verifying that QoS is actually performing at the WAN access point. These reports can help to debug To correct a problem in hardware or software. Debugging software means locating the errors in the source code (the program logic). Debugging hardware means finding errors in the circuit design (logical circuits) or in the physical interconnections of the circuits.  problems that have occurred in the past and can validate changes instantly. The GUI makes validating traffic by traffic class quick and easy.
