ERNEST H. LORCH ELECTED TO TYLER CORPORATION BOARD

 DALLAS, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Joseph F. McKinney, chief executive officer of Tyler Corporation (NYSE: TYL), today announced the election of Ernest H. Lorch to the board of directors of the company. Lorch, age 61, is chairman of Varlen Corporation, a publicly held diversified company, and counsel to the law firm of Breed, Abbott and Morgan.
 Lorch recently retired as chief executive officer and chairman of Dyson-Kissner-Moran Corporation after almost ten years of service. He has served on the board of various companies including Constar International, EnviroSource, Inc., and Janus Industries, Inc. Lorch holds a bachelor of arts degree from Middlebury College, a doctor of laws degree from the University of Virginia, and an honorary doctor of laws degree from Fairfield University. He is active in many charitable and religious organizations.
 In announcing the election, McKinney said, "Ernie Lorch has distinguished himself as an executive and a director. Tyler Corporation will certainly benefit from his counsel."
