ERICSSON TO DELIVER GSM CELLULAR SYSTEM TO LITHUANIA.


STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1995--Ericsson has received an order from Mobilios Telekomunikacijos in Lithuania for delivery and installation of a GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) A digital cellular phone technology based on TDMA that is the predominant system in Europe, but also used worldwide. Developed in the 1980s, GSM was first deployed in seven European countries in 1992.  system in that country. The contract has a total value of $ 24 million. Deliveries will take place over the next three years. The first part of the system will be delivered and put into operation during 1995.

The new contract means that Ericsson will expand its operations in Lithuania. Commenting on the order, Bo Stockholm, Vice President, Marketing at L.M. Mobilios Telekomunikacijos is a strong joint venture company between Lithuanian investors Lintel, where Telekomas and US West are the major shareholders, Dobilas and Elsis, and the foreign investors Tele Denmark and Millicom International Cellular in Luxembourg."

Lithuania is the 35th country to purchase Ericsson's GSM cellular system.
