ERF Wireless Acquires Beacon Wireless Broadband Network; ERF Wireless Expands Network Coverage Over Two Additional Texas Cities.

:ERFW ERFW Engine Room Fresh Water (naval engineering) ), an emerging major provider of enterprise class wireless broadband products and services, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of all of the assets of the Beacon Network. The Beacon Network provides wireless broadband network coverage over a large part of southeastern Harris County, Texas Harris County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. As of 2000 U.S. Census, the county had a population of 3.4 million (though a 2006 estimate placed the population at nearly 3. , including the strategic cities of La Porte and Shoreacres, as well as a large part of the Houston Ship Channel The Houston Ship Channel in Houston, Texas is part of the Port of Houston—one of the United States's busiest sea ports. The Beacon Network was a private network owned and operated by a consortium that included three cities and one school district. Under the agreement, ERF Wireless will own 100% of the network and receive all of the revenues generated from providing wireless broadband network coverage to the large number of municipal, school district, school, fire department, civic center, college locations, as well as residential and commercial customers that received network connectivity on the Beacon Network. ERF Wireless is also authorized to use city-owned water towers from La Porte and Shoreacres for the placement of antennas and related network equipment. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
