EQUIFAX SUBSIDIARY SIGNS CONTRACT WITH CALIFORNIA STATE LOTTERY
ATLANTA, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- High Integrity Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX), signed a five-year contract with the California State Lottery on July 23 to provide an automated instant ticket gaming system.
California Lottery officials said that the system proposed by High Integrity Systems provides several technological advantages. One of the requirements the Lottery imposed on contract bidders was the need for terminals with low ongoing operating costs. High Integrity Systems satisfied this requirement through the use of its distinctive dial-up technology. This contract should lead to increased lottery sales by doubling the number of California Lottery terminals, automating scratcher ticket processing, lowering retailer handling costs and increasing player convenience. The contract is valued at approximately $150 million over its five-year term.
High Integrity Systems will support the network of terminals with two NonStop Cyclone Systems supplied by Tandem Computers Incorporated. The NonStop Cyclone is a high performance, transaction processing computer system designed to provide continuous availability, even in the event of a component failure.
High Integrity Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telecredit, Inc., a division of Equifax. Telecredit provides electronic payment services including check authorization and purchase services, credit card issuance and data processing. The company services approximately 100,000 merchant locations and 2,000 financial institutions in the United States and Canada. The company processed more than $16 billion in check and credit card point-of-sale transactions last year.
