"After examining the proposals of a number of energy service providers, the EPPA has endorsed New Energy Ventures exclusively. We feel comfortable with its proposal, and look forward to having New Energy Ventures exceed its Phase I performance and serve our members well," said Peter L. DiCapua, chairman of the EPPA. He expressed disappointment the endorsement could not have been made much earlier "due to unfortunate circumstances which impeded im·pede

In Phase I, New Energy Ventures was one of two firms endorsed by the EPPA, and it signed up 35 percent of the market to become the second largest energy service company (ESCO ESCO Energy Service Company

East, New Energy Ventures' east coast operations subsidiary, said "The industry leaders represented by the EPPA have once again taken a positive step towards insuring a vibrant market for all electricity users in New York. Being selected for the second year in a row re-enforces that customers want improved service, better pricing and greater options, which are available in a competitive market. New Energy Ventures is extremely pleased that we will continue to work with the EPPA to bring a high level of service and lower energy prices to its members."

Once firms have been accepted in the program, they are free to sign up with any ESCO of their choice. "Because of that freedom of choice and the EPPA endorsement," said Lieberman, "New Energy Ventures hopes to attract a significant number of firms previously served by other providers. Our superior record of customer service and very competitive prices are a powerful incentive to switch."

Delivery of electricity for Phase II begins on April 1st.
