The ROD addresses the interim remedial action A remedial action is a change made to a nonconforming product or service to address the deficiency. Rework and repair are generally the remedial actions taken on products, while services usually require additional services to be performed to ensure satisfaction. at the ETC site and the relocation of households affected by contamination from the site. The major components of the ROD include the following: -- Permanent relocation of an estimated 358 households from the Rosewood Terrace, Oak Park, and Goulding subdivisions and the Escambia Arms Apartments, and -- Demolition of homes and the use of institutional controls to restrict land use to industrial or commercial development. The ROD is based on health risk reduction, community welfare and operational concerns, configuration of the land area, and long-term community development goals. Also, it is protective of human health and the environment and complies with Federal and State requirements that are legally applicable or relevant and appropriate to the remedial action. Onsite and residential soil contamination will be addressed in a separate ROD.
