EPA finalizes amendments to air toxics regulations for plywood and composite wood products.


WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. The final amendments allow facilities to use approved emission estimates rather than conduct emissions tests for some hard-to-test units, and allow facilities to demonstrate they are Low-risk at any time, either before or after the compliance date.

 estimates that the regulation established in July 2004 will reduce air toxics emissions from the manufacturing of plywood and composite wood products by 11,000 tons per year, a 58% decrease from 1997 Levels.
