EPA To Host Transportation and Energy Efficiency Fair.

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2001

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and , in conjunction with the Electric Vehicle Club of the South, will host a transportation and energy-efficient event on August 7, 2001.

The event, "HOT AUGUST TRANSPORTATION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY FAIR" will be held from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. at the Sam Nunn Samuel Augustus Nunn, Jr. (born September 8, 1938) is an American businessman and politician. Although major advances have been made since Congress passed the Clean Air Act, many people are still not breathing easier and high levels of smog and ozone are common summer occurrences in Atlanta and in many of the nation's other large cites. Since cars generate more than half of the total ozone-forming pollutants in the Atlanta region, emissions from these sources have a major effect on the region's air quality. The "HOT AUGUST TRANSPORTATION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY FAIR," will focus on the importance and effects that our everyday choices have on air quality in Atlanta.

The "HOT AUGUST TRANSPORTATION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY FAIR" will be the host to twenty exhibitors including: BP, Andersen Windows Andersen Corporation is a privately-owned business that was founded in 1903 by Danish immigrant Hans Andersen and his family in Hudson, Wisconsin, where logs arrived via the St. Croix River. , the Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, Georgia Power Georgia Power is an electricity corporation based in Georgia. It is the largest of the four electric utilities that is operated by Southern Company.

Also, there will be many alternative-fueled and hybrid vehicles displayed on the plaza including: the Corbin Sparrow, EV-1, the Ford Think Neighbor, Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, a propane F-150 and the GEM. Additionally, several smaller electric bikes and scooters will be on display under the big tent on the plaza.
