EPA PROPOSES CLEAN-UP PLAN FOR OFF-SITE CONTAMINATION AT CIC SUPERFUND SITE IN EDISON, N.J.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 1994--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and (EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid. EPA abbr. eicosapentaenoic acid EPA, n.pr See acid, eicosapentaenoic. EPA, n. ) has made public its proposed plan to remove soil and sediment contamination in off-site areas associated with the Chemical Insecticide Corporation (CIC CIC circulating immune complexes. CIC Circulating immune complexes. See Immune complexes. ) Superfund site at 30 Whitman Avenue in Edison, New Jersey Edison Township (usually known as Edison) is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the township had a total population of 97,687, making it at the time the fifth largest municipality in New Jersey. As of the U.S. . EPA is recommending that approximately 10,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil and sediment be excavated in areas in and around the unnamed tributary and Mill Brook, and in a grassy area behind Building 14 in the Edison Glen Condominium Complex. The contaminated material would be disposed of off-site at an appropriate waste facility. Restoration of the excavated areas would include backfilling An early technique used with XTs and ATs that let DESQview run more programs concurrently. Motherboard chips were disabled and EMS chips were assigned the low memory addresses. and replanting. Once the project is completed, on future property use restrictions would be required. EPA estimates the cleanup may cost up to $8.5 million. EPA has scheduled a public meeting to discuss its plan on November 28, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. at the Edison Township Municipal Complex on 100 Municipal Boulevard in Edison, New Jersey. The proposed plan is based on the results of an off-site investigation that EPA conducted last spring to further determine the extent of off-site contamination and to more accurately define the volume of contaminated off-site soils and sediments. The investigation involved sampling of groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil and interior dust from off-site areas including the Edison Glen Development, Edison Woods Development, certain off-site residential properties, and areas in and around the unnamed tributary and Mill Brook. The public is invited to comment on the proposed plan. EPA will select the appropriate remedy after thorough consideration of all written and oral comments, and after consultation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) is a government agency in the U.S. state of New Jersey that is responsible for managing the state's natural resources and addressing issues related to pollution.
