EPA Appoints Regional Superfund Ombudsman.


ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1996--The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and  today announced the appointment of Ron Wilson

 as Regional Superfund Ombudsman. The regional ombudsman will serve as a direct point of contact for the public on Superfund concerns.

Regional Administrator John H. Hankinson, Jr. said, "This appointment underscores the importance of the Agency's commitment to make the Superfund program Noun 1. The Regional Ombudsman will facilitate resolution of concerns that have not been resolved between regional personnel and stakeholders -- people interested or involved in processes relating to relating to relate prepconcernant

 Superfund. One important component of the new position is direct access to top-level regional management to help resolve issues communicated to the regional office about the cleanup of Superfund sites.

The Ombudsman also will serve as a repository for information related to recurring Superfund concerns. To develop this repository function, the Ombudsman will participate in a Regional Ombudsman workgroup and hold national meetings and training sessions.

Creating the Superfund Regional Ombudsman is one of twenty Superfund Administrative Reforms announced by the Agency on October 2, 1995, in an effort to both streamline the Superfund process and to make the process fairer and more efficient.
