ENVIROFIL SIGNS LETTER OF INTENT TO ACQUIRE FOUR LANDFILLS
ST. DAVIDS, Pa., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Envirofil, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFIL), an integrated solid waste management company, has announced it signed a letter of intent to acquire four permitted operating landfills (two in Indiana, one in Illinois and one in Ohio), their related collection operations and a waste transportation brokerage company.
The combined activities of these entities generated in excess of $10 million of revenue in the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 1991.
Charles M. Hallinan, president of Envirofil, stated, "These sites represent a significant step in Envirofil's strategy to build a substantial solid waste disposal company and allow the company to geographically diversify its operations." The four landfills provide more than 496 acres of land on which there are an estimated 4.5 million cubic yards of remaining permitted airspace. In addition, more than 75 acres are currently designated for expansion.
The company also announced it decided not to proceed with the acquisition of the Pennsylvania landfill with which it had signed a definitive agreement. This agreement expired on May 15, 1992.
Envirofil, Inc. is engaged in the acquisition, operation and development of non-hazardous landfills and related businesses throughout the United States.
