River's Edge Winery of Elkton won the Best of Show prize at the 27th annual Tri-Cities Wine Festival for its 2003 barrel select pinot noir.

The winery competed against 218 wines from 85 wineries in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia British Columbia, province (2001 pop. 3,907,738), 366,255 sq mi (948,600 sq km), including 6,976 sq mi (18,068 sq km) of water surface, W Canada. Geography

Local brewery takes

The third-place medal for imperial ale at this year's Great American Beer Festival The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) is a three-day annual event hosted by the Brewers Association held at the end of September or the beginning of October in Denver, Colorado.  in Denver went to Eugene City Brewing's Natty Red.

Brewer Trevor Howard gets the credit for the successful ale, which comes from the Rogue Nation's brewery at 844 Olive St. in downtown Eugene.

The festival drew 2,335 entries from 466 breweries. This year, the Eugene City Brewery also won a gold medal gold medal

The stewards from area Market of Choice stores will present their favorite cheeses - and serve wines to go with them - at a Holiday Wine & Cheese Pairing at the Valley River Inn on Dec. 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
