ENTREE NOTES.Byline: The Register-Guard Radio station holds annual garden tour Nine gardens will be on the list for this year's KLCC-FM garden tour to benefit the public radio station. The tour will run Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, with visitors viewing gardens in three neighborhoods: North Eugene near Game Farm Road (Armitage Road near Bloomer's Nursery, 2795 Grand Cayman Grand Cayman See Cayman Islands. Drive and 2882 Martinique); the Washington-Madison neighborhood (2100 Madison St., 2365 Madison St., 662 W. 25th Place and 2515 Washington St.); and in the 30th Avenue and Agate Street area (3956 and 3967 Shasta View Drive). Advance tickets cost $10; admission the day of the tour runs $13. Gardens may be viewed in any order during tour hours. Any of a class of cultivated hybrid roses originally developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, noted especially for their long-stemmed flowers in a wide range of strong colors and for their extended blooming season. rose, called Andrea Steltzer. An amateur grower with 38 rose bushes in his yard, Evans "has been trying for 32 years to win this award, so I'm thrilled for him," his friend Dorothy Buckland says. "But he's too shy ever to tell anyone about his success - someone (recently) asked him how his roses were doing, and all he said was, 'Oh, fine.' ' A news release from KOIN News in Portland about the show said "the long cane and perfect triangular form" of Evans' blush-pink bloom persuaded judges to give him the top award. But Buckland says the tender loving care Evans gives his roses no doubt played a role in his success.
