A beer or ale brewed in a microbrewery. 2. See craft beer. Festival held Feb. 11-12 at the Lane Events Center in Eugene. A brew called Iron Brewer from the Steelhead Brewery in Eugene took second place. India Pelican Ale from Pelican Brewery in Pacific City placed third. The festival was a benefit for public radio station KLCC 89.7 FM, which raised $55,000 at the event. Wine tastings TODAY Ambrosia ambrosia (ămbrō`zhə), in Greek mythology, food and drink with which the Olympian gods preserved their immortality. Extraordinarily fragrant, ambrosia was probably conceived of as a purified and idealized form of honey. Restaurant and Bar - Amity Vineyards, a pioneer in the production of Oregon pinot noir, will be featured at Ambrosia's First-Wednesday Wine Tasting and Sale from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Winemaker Myron Redford will pour the wines and answer questions. The $12 cost includes a taste of eight wines and appetizers. Ambrosia is at 174 E. Broadway. Workshops THURSDAY Pruning Workshop - The OSU/Lane County Extension Service is sponsoring a free class on the pruning of fruit trees and grape vines from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at River Road Park, 1400 Lake Drive. To register, call 688-4052. SATURDAY Home Orchard Society - The society will hold its annual Scion Exchange and Rootstock rootstock: see rhizome. Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in Canby. Admission is $5 (free for children 12 and under). For more information, go to www.homeorchardsociety.org. TUESDAY Grafting Workshop - The OSU/Lane County Extension Service is taking registrations for grafting classes to be held on Tuesday in the Wheeler Pavilion at the fairgrounds, just east of the Extension office at 950 W. 13th Ave. The sessions are from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The $25 cost includes handouts and one apple rootstock for hands-on training.
