VALENCIA - Lucy Shelton, one of the world's leading sopranos and a foremost interpreter of contemporary music, will perform a free concert at 2 p.m. today in the Roy O. Disney Roy Oliver Disney (June 24, 1893–December 20, 1971, aged 78) was, with his younger brother Walt Disney, co-founder of what is now The Walt Disney Company. Roy served as the company's chief executive officer (1929–1971)-though title name wasn't given until 1968-,  Music Hall at California Institute of the Arts California Institute of the Arts

U.S. private institution of higher learning in Valencia. Created in 1961 through the merger of two other art institutes, it was the first in the U.S.

Shelton will be joined by two School of Music faculty members, violinist Mark Menzies and pianist Peter Miyamoto, and additional guest artists.

J. Larson shows wildlife artwork

CANYON COUNTRY - Artist Judy Larson will present her images highlighting the precarious balance of wildlife in today's environment and the fate of American Indians at an art show and reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at B & R Gallery, 17720 Sierra Highway, Canyon Country.

Larson's latest series, ``On the Run,'' focuses on the fate of American Indian horses at the hands of the U.S. government, including the famed Appaloosa horses of the Nez Perce Indians. For information about the show, call the gallery at (661) 298-2038.

Guild auditions set for Nov. 23

NEWHALL - Auditions for ``The Little Princess'' will take place at 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at the Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the , Newhall.

Director Carol Rock is looking for 15 girls 6 to 16; four women in their 40s and 50s; and five men 30 to 50.

Although this is not a musical, there are some songs in the show and all females auditioning should bring a short accompaniment tape or CD and be prepared to sing.

CalArts music students to sing

VALENCIA - CalArts students will perform a concert of contemporary and traditional vocal music ranging from opera to art song to oratorio oratorio (ôrətôr`ēō), musical composition employing chorus, orchestra, and soloists and usually, but not necessarily, a setting of a sacred libretto without stage action or scenery.  at 8 p.m. Wednesday at California Institute of the Arts.

The concert is under the direction of School of Music faculty member Jacqueline Bobak.

Students in the piano performance program of the CalArts School of Music will present an evening of contemporary and traditional works at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Both concerts are free and will take place in the Roy O. Disney Music Hall at CalArts, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia. For information, call Walter Zooi at (661) 222-2787.

Valencia students to present 'Rebel'

SCREAM festival Friday at CalArts

VALENCIA - The annual festival presented by the Southern California Resource for Electro-Acoustic Music (SCREAM) will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the Roy O. Disney Music Hall at CalArts, 24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia. The free concert will feature experimental electro-acoustic compositions by CalArts faculty members Barry Schrader and Mark Trayle and alumnus ALUMNUS, civil law. A child which one has nursed; a foster child. Dig. 40, 2, 14.  Peter Grenader. Also included will be works by David Bradfield, Tom Flaherty and Rodney Oakes. This year's festival is presented by CalArts, Los Angeles Harbor College Los Angeles Harbor College (LAHC) is one of two community colleges serving the South Bay region of Los Angeles. LAHC serves mainly students from Harbor City, Carson, San Pedro, Gardena, Lomita, Wilmington and the Palos Verdes Peninsula. , Pomona College and California State University, Dominguez Hills California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is a campus of the California State University system. It is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California.
