It's been a happy 50th anniversary at the Happiest Place on Earth.

New parades, new attractions and golden splashes all around Disneyland helped the theme park celebrate 50 years of memories. But it was a new 17-minute fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics.

``The striking thing about the fireworks is how successful they've been and how sustained their success has been,'' said Disneyland spokesman John McClintock John McClintock (October 27, 1814 - March 4, 1870), American Methodist Episcopal theologian and educationalist, was born in Philadelphia.

He graduated at the University of Pennsylvania in 1835, and was assistant professor of mathematics (1836-1837), professor of mathematics

The show is essentially a Disneyland highlight reel - using fireworks, a musical soundtrack, narration and other effects - that references popular shows and attractions (including some rides that are long gone). Among the highlights is the return of Tinker Bell for a gravity-defying flight at the end of the first act.

``It's probably the most complicated, outrageous show we've done for nighttime,'' said Steve Davison, Disneyland's creative director.

Besides the fireworks, the year at the Anaheim theme park was marked by the debut of the interactive Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters ride and the return of Space Mountain after a two-year makeover. ``The interactive element in Buzz Lightyear - the fact that you can not only record your score, but also e-mail it to taunt your friends - has been a factor in its popularity,'' McClintock said.

By the end of the year, the park gained a couple of attractions that weren't part of the originally announced 50th anniversary plans. Two turkeys, pardoned by President George W. Bush during a traditional pre-Thanksgiving ceremony, were flown to Southern California - first- class, no less - to serve as the honorary grand marshals in the theme park's annual Thanksgiving Day Parade.

And instead of joining other turkeys that receive presidential pardons at a farm in Virginia, these birds will live the rest of their natural lives at Disneyland in a Frontierland ranch.

Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration continues through fall 2006.
