Hyams, MD, and current editorial board member Dennis K. Heffner, MD. The newest addition to the editorial board is Lester D.R. Thompson, MD, who with Dr. Heffner has initiated the new Pathology pathology, study of the cause of disease and the modifications in cellular function and changes in cellular structure produced in any cell, organ, or part of the body by disease. Clinic. The concept of such a clinic has been in development since I became editor. The goal is to describe for our readers what is seen on the slide and the distinguishing features that allow an accurate diagnosis to be made. I expect that this clinic will be of special value to residents in training and physicians preparing for ENT ENT ears, nose, and throat (otorhinolaryngology). For those of us in active practice, this monthly clinic will serve as a reminder of knowledge gained in the past, and it will provide information regarding recent advances and the state of the art. The AFIP has been a major participant in physician education and patient care. The important 1956 textbook, An Atlas of Otolaryngic Pathology by Ash and Raum, and the multiple "fascicles" from the AFIP, each devoted to a specific condition, have provided valuable information to otolaryngologists for decades. The collections of slides of rare and unusual conditions sent from throughout the world give the institute great depth and research opportunity. Otolaryngologists continue to request that their own pathologists send slides to the pathologists at the AFIP whenever there is any question of the pathologic diagnosis.
