ENHANCED SOFTWARE STRENGTHENS SECURITY OF SHARED WORKSTATIONS.BioconX, Inc., developer of network security software that fortifies network and application security with enterprise-wide, biometric single sign-on, has released version 3.6 of its software. BioconX 3.6 supports and biometrically controls multiple, individualized network sessions on shared computers. "When different users log on with our biometric sign-on at a shared workstation, BioconX 3.6 initiates separate network sessions for each individual user and applies each user's own network profiles and policies," says Don Harris, chief technology officer of BioconX. "Our software not only protects the privacy of individual desktops but also safeguards any processes a user is running when somebody else signs on at the same workstation." "In healthcare, medical professionals commonly share computers," says Ash Shehata, director of information services and telecommunications, Antelope Valley Hospital, Lancaster, Calif. "BioconX software is unique in its initiation of separate network sessions for each individual who biometrically signs on at a shared workstation. This special capability was one of the key reasons we selected BioconX to secure our network and applications with biometric authentication of all our users." In preparation for the data privacy and computer security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Antelope Valley Hospital is implementing BioconX network security software for 2,000 users who run more than 60 different software applications. About BioconX, Inc. BioconX, Inc., Minneapolis, Minn., develops network security software that applies biometrics, the technology of authenticating individual identity from unique personal characteristics, to replace passwords and safeguard computer system security. BioconX streamlines, simplifies, and strengthens access control. The software authenticates the identity of users by comparing their finger scan or the iris of their eye against all stored biometric templates. It then instantly enables users to immediately access all servers, and any application, for which they have authorization with one single, simple, and secure biometric sign-on. BioconX software is device independent and compatible with biometric technologies, input devices, and hardware from Siemens, Sony Electronics, Iridian Technologies, BioLink Technologies International, Inc., and Key Source International. BioconX can be found on the World Wide Web at http://www.bioconx.com/. For more information, call 612/922-5551. |
