COALBED METHANE CONSULTING SERVICES TO MAGNOLIA METHANE CORP.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Energen Corporation's Taurus Exploration subsidiary will provide coalbed methane consulting services to Magnolia Methane Corp., a subsidiary of Houston-based Transco Energy Company.
Magnolia Methane recently assumed operatorship of its 500-well coalbed methane project in Tuscaloosa and Hale counties in Alabama's Black Warrior Basin.
"This consulting arrangement is a logical complement to our own knowledge base and greatly enhances the potential for improved operating performance from our Black Warrior properties. We look forward to benefiting from Taurus' experience in developing a successful coalbed methane production program," said Robert M. Chiste, president of Magnolia Methane.
"Consulting is an excellent opportunity for Taurus to use its extensive coalbed methane experience and staff expertise in nonconventional gas operations," added Wm. Michael Warren Jr., president of Taurus.
Energen (NYSE: EGN) is a diversified energy company based in Birmingham; its major lines of business are natural gas distribution and oil and gas exploration and production. Taurus currently operates 760 coalbed methane wells in the Black Warrior Basin.
Transco Energy Company (NYSE: E) transports natural gas through its interstate pipeline systems to markets in the eastern and midwestern United States, arranges for the transportation and sale of natural gas throughout the U.S., and is active in independent power generation and natural gas vehicle fueling services. Transco also maintains modest positions in other energy-related businesses.
