ENDESA REPORTS HALF-YEAR EARNINGS

 MADRID, Spain, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- ENDESA (NYSE: ELE), a major utility company in Spain, reported today its preliminary, consolidated earnings per share of Ptas 219.90 (US$1.69 per ADR) for the six months ended June 30, 1993, a 6.9 percent increase over Ptas 205.74 (US$1.58 per ADR) for the first half of 1992. One ADR is equivalent to one common share of ENDESA stock.
 Consolidated revenues during the period were Ptas 375.89 billion (US$2.88 billion), up by 5.5 percent in respect of Ptas 356.33 billion (US$2.73 billion) for the same period in 1992.
 Debt retired during the period amounted to Ptas 42.31 billion (US$324.47 million).
 Cash-flow generated, Ptas 127.53 billion (US$978.07 million), was 15.0 percent higher than that for the first six months of 1992.
 Capital expenditures during the period were Ptas 35.06 billion (US$268.90 million), 7.9 percent up in respect of last year's; financial expenditures amounted to Ptas 36.32 billion (US$278.53 million), reflecting the acquisition of approximately 2 percent of stock in RWE AG.
 Consolidated figures are unaudited and calculated in accordance with Spanish GAAP. Conversion of Pesetas (Ptas) into U.S. dollars ($) is based on the Federal Reserve Bank noon-buying rate on June 30, 1993, of $1 equals Ptas 130.39.
