EMSYS Corporation Files A Patent Application For Its Patient Specific Radiation Therapy Billing System.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. -- EMSYS Corporation, a medical software developer, announced today that it has filed a patent application for its patient specific radiation therapy billing system with the U.S. patents and trademarks office.

Using the assumption that the same services are delivered to patients treated for the same diseased site, existing billing software in radiation therapy assigns a set of billing codes to each treatment site. Unfortunately, in reality a cancerous site may be planned and treated differently from patient to patient. As a result, clinics cannot rely on these electronic billing methods. When they do, the risk of under- as well as over-charging patients becomes significant. It is thus important to develop an electronic billing method that looks at each patient treatment individually. "EMSYS Corporation's solution provides clinics with a patient specific billing method that reduces, if not eliminates, the risk of over- and under-charging," said Dr. Nabil Adnani, EMSYS founder and President.
