EMR Microwave Enters Agreement with Goldcorp Inc. for Commercial Pilot Operation Using Gold Recovery Technology.FREDERICTON, New Brunswick--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 1995--EMR Microwave Technology (Alberta Stock Exchange Alberta Stock Exchange See Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX). :EMW EMW Electromagnetic Wave EMW Ericsson Microwave Systems EMW Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare EMW Eisenach Motoren Werke EMW Electromagnetic Warfare EMW Early Morning Wakening (aka terminal insomnia) EMW Engineer Mine Warfare ) EMR (ElectroMagnetic Radiation) The emanation of energy from everything in the universe. Although the EMR from electrical and electronic devices is typically measured for practical, every-day situations, every object, including humans, emanates energy. The project consists of three phases. Under Phase 1, Goldcorp will supply EMR with 81 tonnes of Red Lake Mine arsenopyritic (refractory) concentrate to be used in EMR's pre-commercial pilot test which will be concluded by February 1996. Processed concentrate will be returned to Goldcorp for subsequent bullion recovery. Phase 2 involves the establishment of the EMR processing facility at Red Lake Mine and the pretreatment pretreatment, n the protocols required before beginning therapy, usually of a diagnostic nature; before treatment. pretreatment estimate, n See predetermination. of 10,000 tonnes of concentrate. Under this phase, EMR and Goldcorp will contribute equally to the preproduction and capital costs of the project and each will receive back its costs out of revenues from the recovered bullion. Phase 3 covers commercial operation of the EMR process under royalty for a period of 10 years at a target maximum concentrate stream of 50 tonnes per day. EMR's pre-pilot test results on Goldcorp's refractory concentrate have confirmed complete oxidation of the pyrite/arsenopyrite into directly leachable form with solid capture of both the sulphur and arsenic components and no gas effluents. Recent exploration activities in early 1995 at Goldcorp's Red Lake Mine have effectively doubled the mine's gold reserve above the reported 1994 value of 1.1 million ounces. A significant fraction of this reserve is refractory and is ideally suited for recovery using EMR's pretreatment process followed by conventional leach recovery. Based upon pre-pilot tests, the expected costs of the EMR concentrate pretreatment process are considerably less than those associated with oxygen pressure leaching, roasting and bio-oxidation. Overall plant costs are expected to be in the range of 50 percent - 80 percent of other processes. EMR is continuing development of its microwave based technology in the mining industry through the treatment of a wide range of complex ore types, including processing of metal bearing tailings. -0- Note to Editors: The Alberta Stock Exchange has Neither Approved nor Disapproved of the Contents of this Press Release.
