We tend to forget the human foibles and humor humor, according to ancient theory, any of four bodily fluids that determined man's health and temperament. Hippocrates postulated that an imbalance among the humors (blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile) resulted in pain and disease, and that good health was that emerges. What continually amazes is the wise perception of Anne Frank, who was just 13 when she began her two-year diary. Her father, the only survivor of the eight Jews who hid from the Germans in an Amsterdam warehouse from 1942-44, recovered the diary after the war, and it became a best-selling book, play and movie. Otto Heinrich Frank (May 12, 1889 – August 19, 1980) was the father of Anne Frank. , with the help of Dutch friends, had the foresight to hide his family, their friends the Van Daans and a bachelor dentist from the Nazis. The shy and earnest Peter Van Daan was sensitively rendered by Matt Harbicht. The crochety Mr. Dussel was a fine performance by the likable Tim Holtwick, who gave the character a bit of an edge. The set on Stage Door's small stage was very imaginatively built by Mike Monteleone. Congratulations for great direction are also due for Bill Martyn.
