In comparison, last Thursday's premiere of ``Survivor: Thailand'' on CBS delivered 22 million viewers.

NBC's morning-after announcement proclaimed that Sunday night's Emmys were ``the No. 4 awards telecast of the past year'' among adults 18 to 49, the most widely sought demographic among advertisers.

There were no ratings numbers available for HBO's ``The Sopranos,'' which was the highest-rated show the previous Sunday. O'Brien joked during the telecast that they would turn the prop TVs on the stage to ``The Sopranos,'' which airs at 9 p.m., so the audience wouldn't miss it.
