 NEW YORK, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Emil L. Torick, internationally recognized authority in the consumer electronics, broadcasting and communications fields, has been named president of Technology Base Inc.
 Technology Base Inc. is a high technology company that develops and markets a new line of virtual audio products for use by audio professionals and consumers. The company introduced its new "DIGITAL PROBASE" processor during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week.
 Torick, who has been chief technical advisor on recording technology and digital transmission media for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), will be responsible for directing Technology Base Inc.'s activities internationally. The company currently has executive offices in New York City, engineering facilities in Arlington Heights, Ill., and marketing offices in Boston and Los Angeles. A marketing office is scheduled to be opened in Tokyo in February.
 Torick, who is recognized for his technical contributions in consumer electronics, broadcasting, audio and television recording and communications as vice president of Audio Technology at CBS Inc. for many years, will also guide the company's efforts in the application of its products and developments for the supercommunications highway of the future.
 Current Technology Base Inc. products, including PROBASE, MUSIC BASE, CONBASE, DIGITAL PROBASE, BASE Components and PC BASE are targeted for major applications such as CD-ROM, Interactive Video, Virtual Reality, HDTV and Home Shopping, among others.
 Prior to joining Technology Base Inc., Torick was president and chief operating officer of Broadcast Technology Partners. During a 28-year career at CBS, Torick held various engineering and executive positions in research and development, product engineering and technology licensing. He was also responsible at the CBS Technology Center for the direction of all advanced audio research programs on behalf of the CBS Broadcast Group, Columbia Records and the CBS Musical Instruments Division.
 He is a graduate in music from Duquesne University and has a BS degree in Physics from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut.
 Torick is president of the AES Educational Foundation and a former director of Visage Inc., a manufacturer of interactive video systems.
