: EMC), the world leader in information storage and management, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire SMARTS(R), Inc., for approximately $260 million in cash, subject to closing adjustments. SMARTS is a fast-growing, privately held technology leader in event automation and real-time network systems management software. SMARTS expects its fiscal 2004 revenues to be slightly more than $60 million. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2005, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and is not expected to have a material impact to EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) A PostScript file format used to transfer a graphic image between applications and platforms. EPS files contain PostScript code as well as an optional preview image in TIFF, WMF, PICT or EPSI, the latter being an ASCII-only format.  for the full 2005 fiscal year.
