Professional Golf Events

The new programs announced today include:

-- The creation of the first EMC Golf Skills European Challenge, which will take place May 18, near London. This made-for-TV event is an extension of the U.S. EMC Golf Skills Challenge and will feature some of the European PGA (1) (Professional Graphics Adapter) An early IBM PC display standard for 3D processing with 640x480x256 resolution. It was not widely used.

 Tour's top players competing on challenging shots for $250,000 prize money. The event will be produced by NBC Sports NBC Sports is a division of NBC, responsible for the televising of many sports events on the network. The NBC Sports broadcast lineup includes: The Olympic Games (through 2012), the NFL, the NHL, Notre Dame Football, the PGA Tour, the USGA Championships, Wimbledon, the French  and syndicated for television distribution worldwide.

-- Title sponsorship of the EMC Kaanapali Classic Senior PGA Tour The PGA Tour is an organization that operates the USA's main professional golf tours. It is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA. Its name is officially rendered in all caps as “PGA TOUR".  event, to be held in Maui, Hawaii, in October. This event will be televised live by ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network .

-- A new "The EMC Effect" television commercial to appear on network sports and cable news programming beginning this month. The commercial will air during EMC-sponsored programming, major network golf events and on CNN CNN

-- A joint international advertising program with Hewlett-Packard Company, one of the world's leading computer companies and a reseller of EMC Symmetrix The Symmetrix is EMC's flagship enterprise storage array. There have been seven generations of Symmetrix hardware, with the first appearing in 1994 and the latest introduced in 2006.  Enterprise Storage systems. -- The signing of PGA golfer and New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  native Billy Andrade William Thomas "Billy" Andrade (born January 25, 1964) is an American golfer.

Andrade was born in Bristol, Rhode Island. He attended Wake Forest University where he helped lead the Demon Deacons to the 1986 NCAA Championship. He played on the U.S.
 to endorse EMC. The EMC logo will be featured prominently on Andrade's shirt during tournaments.

EMC Golf Skills European Challenge

The inaugural EMC Golf Skills European Challenge event will be held on May 18, 1998, at the historic Wentworth Club's East Course outside of London. The made-for-TV event will be produced and distributed worldwide by NBC Sports and televised in the U.S. on The Golf Channel. Like its U.S. counterpart, the EMC Golf Skills Challenge, the European Challenge will feature eight European PGA pros competing for $250,000 in eight skill events, such as long drive, trouble shot and putting. Among the stars expected to compete in the inaugural event are several members of the reigning European Ryder Cup championship team and the top money winners on the 1997 European PGA Tour, including Germany's Bernhard Langer, Wales' Ian Woosnam, England's Lee Westwood and Scotland's Colin Montgomerie.

EMC Kaanapali Classic

The EMC Kaanapali Classic will be held October 19-25, 1998, at the Kaanapali North Course on Maui, Hawaii. Seventy-eight players will compete in the 54-hole stroke play tournament for a total purse of $1 million. The three-day event three-day event
