EMC Chairman Highlights Impressive Agenda At NCTA'S Leadership Conference.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA), the primary voice of the technology industry in North Carolina, announced today that Mike Ruettgers, chairman of the board of directors of EMC Corporation, will deliver a keynote address at its annual Leadership Conference to be held at the historic Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. August 30-31, 2005.

The presentation tilted, "Innovation Through Information," will address the challenges business leaders face as they confront how to protect, unify, engage and harness the volume and diversity of corporate information. "Businesses and economies run on knowledge and the knowledge workers who transform highly technical ideas, designs, concepts, and engineering know-how into innovations that respond to customer needs and open up new markets," stated Mike Ruettgers, chairman of the board of directors of EMC Corporation.

Mr. Ruettgers leads all facets of EMC's proactive corporate governance, with a special focus on shaping the composition and expertise of EMC's independent and fully engaged board of directors. He joined EMC in 1988 and was the company's president and chief executive officer from 1992 until 2001, successfully leading EMC's pioneering efforts to transform storage from a computer "peripheral" to an intelligent platform at the center of all business processes. In November 2002, Ruettgers was inducted into the Industry Hall of Fame, joining a select group of the innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders who have helped shape and expand the global IT industry.

The focus of the 2005 NCTA Leadership Conference, "Competitiveness Through Innovation" will include discussions on education, building a 21st Century knowledge economy, national security, global competitiveness and diversity. In addition to thought provoking keynote presentations and panel discussions, the member-only event provides a more personal setting for NCTA members with access to cutting edge ideas, key decision-makers and unparalleled executive networking.
