WEST recently announced their intent to collaborate on medical image transmission.

The two companies will jointly offer a system to transmit To send data over a communications line. See transfer.  and thus allow the sharing of medical images among medical institutions. Specifically, the new system will enable users to create 3D and 4D images with ELK's imaging solution AquariusNET and distribute and share those images via FLET's Group, an IP network service operated by NTT WEST.

Since FLET's Group is a closed network, a secure exchange of data is ensured. The new system can be set up at one-fifth the cost of installing a system that uses a virtual private network (VPN (Virtual Private Network) A private network that is configured within a public network (a carrier's network or the Internet) in order to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks. ).

The two companies aim to sell 20 systems in fiscal 2006 by targeting 300- to 500-bed facilities. A typical system sells for approximately 20 million yen (US $169,500).
