ELECTRONIC ARTS NAMES NEW BOARD MEMBER; HAMBRECHT & QUIST LEADER JOINED DEC. 1, 1993

 SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronic Arts (EA) (NASDAQ: ERTS), a worldwide leader in the expanding interactive entertainment industry, has appointed Daniel H. Case III to its board of directors, Larry Probst -- president and chief executive officer -- announced today.
 Case is president and co-chief executive officer of Hambrecht & Quist Group, a leading investment banking and venture capital firm with an established reputation among many of the world's most successful growth companies and growth stock investors. Founded in 1968, the San Francisco-headquartered firm maintains its commitment in the growth companies of information technology and life sciences with an additional emphasis and focus on the many industries that comprise the interactive entertainment business.
 Probst welcomed this new member to the board of Electronic Arts and noted that company management expects to benefit greatly from Case's investment banking expertise and financial acumen.
 Case joined Hambrecht & Quist in 1979 and has held positions in Venture Capital and Corporate Finance. In 1987, he was named managing director of corporate finance and promoted to executive vice president in 1989. Case was elected to the firm's board of directors in 1991 -- just a year before he was named president and co-chief executive officer.
 A native of Hawaii, a Rhodes Scholar, and a 1979 honors graduate of Princeton University -- Case expressed enthusiasm for the role he will play in helping EA management bring new forms of technology and entertainment to life as the company secures its leadership position and contemplates additional strategic alliances.
