ELECTRONIC ARTS EXPLORES NEW DESTINATION-BASED MARKETS; STEVE KAUFMAN TO HEAD DIVISION

SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of Electronic Arts' (NASDAQ: ERTS) strategy to leverage its successful intellectual properties into new, expanding markets, President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Probst named Steve Kaufman vice president, general manager, Coin-Operated Division.
Probst commented that, "The strength of EA's leading consumer franchises, paired with Mr. Kaufman's track record in the coin-op industry, presents an opportunity for EA to create a significant new revenue stream.
"In addition to bringing the leading retail sports projects to coin- op, Mr. Kaufman will be exploring the creation of original coin-op titles. Some original coin-op titles have proven successful when brought to the retail games market, and they present additional opportunities for licensing into other consumer categories," Probst concluded.
Kaufman's credentials include his most recent position as executive vice president, sales, premier technologies -- a manufacturer of pinball, redemption and video gaming devices. Prior to that, Kaufman was senior vice president of Konami's Coin-Op Division, where he successfully launched consumer games sales in the United States and established leadership in the coin-operated industry.
Kaufman will assume his duties Sept. 1.
